Painting

Here are a few paintings from the last couple of months.
They are all oils of various sizes. To be honest i have no idea how to paint with anything else!! I have bought myself a set of water colours though which will be a little better for traveling!
The first 3 will form part of a prayer meditation on the baptism and wilderness experience of Jesus and hung in Bremen Cathedral for the Cristival festival.
Then there's one of a beach at Ohrid. And lastly one we use for the morning intercesional prayer here in Ramsdorf.

I couldnt get the dimensions right when i uploaded them so if you want a better look; click on the painting to open it in a new window.

Never mind the snow...

PrayforsnowTommorow morning I set out pre-dawn for Berlin and a flight to Stockholm. I'll be hanging out with our friends Krister and Resa in advance of the weekends 24-7 (Prayer) Nordic gathering in Turku (Finland). after this i'll be travelling with Markus, Marian and Ralf on a tour of the west of Germany where we will be meeting up with many of the German communities we relate to.

This will mean that i'll be away from Misty and the kids for nearly 2 weeks and right now i dont really want to go. I know it will be a great time and i can input into these communities and people but the thought of leaving my family behind...

Please pray for me. But more importantly please pray for Misty as she'll be on her own looking after Mimi and Evan. Please pray for M and E too.

Thanks

Balkan Travels Part 1 - Serbia

My cap is pulled down low covering the dark circles which hide my eyes; it signals to those who would invade my space that I am not to be disturbed.

This has been a long week and the twitch beneath my right eye pesters me to rest; to allow sleep, that which I have neglected for too long, to envelop me. But instead I stir myself and with a sigh pull my notepad from my man-bag and start to scribble. There have been too many friends made, stories told and prayers bled for them to be forgotten and somehow I know that if I fail to record them even with my stubby pencil on paper I will forget.

So as flight BA768 taxis away from Thessaloniki airport, which today is bizarrely covered in 3 inches of snow, I begin my scribble.

Seville Part 3

Lifesshortprayhard_2 Misty and I both felt tremendously privileged to spend time with and get to know some of the wise sages of 24-7 prayer during our time in Seville. amongst these lovely people are the Kennedys. Billy and Caroline Kennedy are real heroes, the journey they have been on with New Community church in Southampton is extraordinary, last year I got hold of an mp3 where Billy spoke from a passage in Jeremiah, which is one of the most influential pieces of teaching I’ve heard and I’ve been following their journey ever since.

It was Billy who brought this next challenge.

Whats wrong with the world?

The Times ran a series of articles towards the turn end of the 19th century called ‘what is wrong with the world.’ They asked leading thinkers and writers of the day to submit an essay on the subject.

GK Chestertons reply was the shortest the newspaper received.

Deutschland 24-7 prayer weekend

Today we are getting ready to host friends from all over Germany for a weekend of talking, eating and praying.

Its a great chance to catch up with old friends and make some new ones, everybody coming is part of a community or seeking to build one so there will be a lot of dream sharing and praying into what God is doing across this nation.

I get to host a discussion group on Saturday afternoon to chat about Missional Community and am speaking on Sunday am which will be cool. To be honest though I've enjoyed making soup for 40 people just as much, and am about to join a kick about in the yard out front of the school.

Its going to be a hectic weekend and i'm sure we'll be tired by Monday. thankfully we've moved our sabbath day til then and the weather man says we are in for some lovely sunshine so we'll hit the lake and chill for a few hours.
