Saints... and books
Its offical then. I'm going to be writing a book for Lion Hudson, the book will be short biographical pieces on (mostly) 1st millenium saints looking to the lives of these saints for inspirition today. the message their lives can teach us etc.
I'm kind of scared, its quite a daunting task even though its only a short book (25,000 words or so). I want to get it right, finding the balance, finding my writing style and giving the publishers the book they want.
Its one thing to say 'i'd like to write a book to actually working to a deadline and sitting down and actually writing one. its also very different to writing short articles and i'm learning that it will teach me much greater discipline.
At the same time though i'm also really excited and i know its an incredible opportunity. Lion work in the Christian and the general high street market which means, I hope, that I can weave the truth of the gospel through the lives of the saints and their stories.
I'm also feeling hugely grateful to our friend Steph who is pulling the strings in Lion Hudson and helping me enormously.
I could really do with the help of all my friends and family now though. those of you who pray, please remember me when you put your hands together.
Practically as well i need to do a significant amount of background reading before starting and have no library access (i'm currently sat at the desk in a YWAM base in Budapest!) please could you check your book shelves for any works on saints that you could let me borrow? I'd be especially grateful for any books on the following saints:
Cyril (kiril) an Methodius
Polycarp
Anthony of the desert
Brigid and Patrick
Brendan
Martin of Tours
Benedict
Aidan
Francis and Clare
I also need to pick one more female saint from the first millenium... any ideas?
I'll happily reimburse postage and send you the books back when i'm finished. We have 2 weeks back in the UK soon during which i hope to crack on with the job so if you could send any books to Mistys parents that would be really kind.

You are forgetting Saint Bill Shankly as well!
Seriously though we will be praying for you dude. I know what it's like trying to work on your own to a deadline like that especially when you've not got an idea place to work as well.
I'm sure God will be with you though.
