words

WordsI've writen another article for the 24-7 prayer international site. If you are interested you can read it here.

I like to write and I have recently discovered I  like to paint.

I enjoy writing. Its something I think I'm quite good at, not as good as i'd like to be, but not bad either. Recently though especially with my 24-7 articles I'm concerned that I always end up saying the same thing. Its the same message that I used to say when I preached regularly. Basically everything I write or say is some kind of veiled version of Phil 3 v13 'Life is tough, it will get you down. But; God loves you and has called and chosen you for a purpose so get on with it!' hmm not too much grace i'm afraid. I just cant seem to help myself.
Writing though is the way I seem to be able to voice myself these days, I like that people enjoy reading what I've written and are challenged by the words. I guess I'm proud and rather shallow... sorry!

Dsc_0006 Painting gives me pleasure in a completely different way. I know I'm not particularly talented, (but I dont think I suck,) but to be honest I dont really care. Painting is for my own pleasure, although i often use paints to express my prayer, and worship God through the pictures I create, I dont care whether other people like them, in fact I dont care if others even see them.
Last week I painted a quick oil on cardboard of some reeds at the lake. I was feeling pretty depressed and painting a bleak picture helped me work out some things in my little head. Its not great by any means but I got a lot of release from sketching how i felt and talking to Jesus about it as I went. Misty quite likes it but I would have been more than happy to put it on the fire once I'd finished it.

Thanks for the words Scott - this kind of thinking should continue to be the norm for us! Many denominations of yesterday started with ice-breakers. It should be in our culture - our blood - our every fibre of our being.
Thanks & keep on going.
Love to you all,
John & Sarah

God loves you

well it was good enough to where i could tell where it was by looking at it.

expression by painting is a good thing.

Don't be so hard on yerself: read your ice-breaker article on 24/7 at w/e, printed off for keeping - really thought provoking. And the painting ? I can see some northern late Van Gogh going on - but let's not go there !!!
